Messy criticals

Whenever you score a critical andĀ at least one ā€˜10’ (ā€˜0’) comes fromĀ a Hunger dice, the character’sĀ vampiric nature (also known asĀ ā€œThe Beastā€) makes itself known.Ā You get two extra successes, butĀ perform the action as a vampireĀ would: killing someone you wereĀ trying to subdue, flashing fangsĀ at someone you were trying toĀ intimidate, Feeding from someoneĀ you met when canvassing, etc.

If you fail to come up with something appropriate the roll just failsĀ instead, as the Beast clouds theĀ vampire’s actions.

Example: when perusing the archivesĀ to find out if there have been anyĀ similar murders in the past, Paul’sĀ player rolls two tens, one of which isĀ on a Hunger die. Engrossing himself inĀ the archives, Paul uncovers plenty ofĀ information, but when the archivistĀ checks up on him, Paul’s annoyance atĀ being interrupted results in him breaking the archivist’s arm.
